Cloves
Sri Lanka produces Cloves in the Wet Zone of the central hill regions. Cloves are small nuts that remains in a cluster of its flowers. It continues to grow and harden once the flower withers away. Those little nuts are dried in the Sun and used as a strong spice in preparation of cuisines. A few Cloves in a pot of Rice give an added flavor and fragrance, especially in Fried or yellow- Rice and are used as an essential Spice in meat curries. Just like Cardamom, it is used by Sri Lankans as a breath smell purifier where its strong aroma serves as an antibacterial against bad breath. It is traditionally used as a cure for toothache. It is also used to prepare pharmaceuticals with the history of its medicinal values against Cancer and improves immunity against headache. The world considers Cloves of Sri Lanka as an outstanding Spice.
