Pepper
Sri Lanka cultivates pepper in vast quantities and is traditionally found in any Home Garden. It could be considered the second largest Spice commodity grown and exported globally. Two varieties of Pepper is being produced in the country, by the same cultivation of Pepper. Black Pepper is the largest Spice commodity which is produced by drying the green color growth, while White Pepper is produced by removing the outer red skin, when the growth becomes extreme ripe. Both quality of Pepper is being used by the world and is an essential ingredient that could even be used for cooking in the absence of Chilies, due to its mild-strong quality. It is also found to be a traditional healing ingredient used in Ayurvedic application in Sri Lanka.
